The left hand picture shows a simple spiral
which will be formed by repeating the half knot.

The right hand picture is a spiral sennit with beads.
The beads were added to the core cords.

I chose to make seven half knots between each bead
because, with the string I used, it took seven half knots
to complete one turn of the spiral.

The number of half knots needed for a complete turn
will vary depending upon the string used.
You can add a bead with each complete turn of the spiral
or you can add a bead after every two turns of the spiral
or you can create your own variations.

The left hand picture shows a simple sennit formed
by repeating the
square knot.

The pattern of knots in the right hand picture
is created by making square knots and alternating
which cords are your knotting cords
and which are your core cords.

Make a square knot, then bring the inner (core) cords
(from behind the knotting cords) around the outside
and use them as knotting cords.

I have chosen to make two square knots before
I switch the cords. However, you can make
one, two, three or more or you can vary the number
of knots before you switch cords.
