You can easily create a diamond shape
using double half hitches. Using each of
your two center cords as knot bearers
make
diagonal double half hitches in opposite
directions. Then reverse the direction of
each of your knot bearers, bringing
them back to the center.

The picture on the right shows repeated
double half hitch diamonds using three
colors. To repeat the pattern, when you
bring your knot bearers back together
in the center, use one of them as a knot bearer
and the other as a knotting cord.

Optionally, you can create a diamond pattern
with two rows of double half hitches
(not shown here).
To do this, after you have made the top half
of your diamond shape, use the two cords that
are now in the center as knot bearers to make
a second row before reversing directions,
and also make two rows in the reversed direction
going back to the center.
