This page shows two patterns, using square knots, that can be used to fill the inside of a diamond shape made from double half hitches.

To make the pattern on the left, make the top half of a
diamond shape.
A second row of double half hitches is optional (shown here). Then, using your 4 most central cords, make a square knot sennit (shown here with 5 square knots) starting from the top of the diamond. Then, using the next four cords to the left (leaving out the two cords on the extreme left), make a single square knot. Repeat on the right side. Close your diamond.
